Gogol Bordello in December will return back in Czech Republic


Gogol Bordello band after their summer gig at Rock for People festival will return to hold solo concert in Prague.
“I wanted people to know that we are not art band, not ethno band and not folk band. We are the band from New York that performs Gypsy punk. No matter how many cultures are combined in our music, it is still our unique style. We don’t represent anyone except ourselves. This is our vision of nowadays social, political, and cultural situation” – speaks front man of eccentric band.
The band was formed in 1999 in New York by Ukrainian emigrant Evgenii Gudz, who came to USA together with his parents just immediately after Chernobyl accident. Evgenii is the leader, vocalist and the main author in whom American journalist is seeing the most charismatic front man since Iggy Pop. The rest of the band can be surely called – international. Gutz had gathered together the main immigrant’s jet set from such counties as Russia, Great Britain, and Ecuador. «Gogoll Bordello» is worldwide famous for they theatricalized performances of gigs, that are represented by amazing mix of carnival, comedy, cabaret and travelling show.
They play their crazy stories about multinational expat community in New York dressing up in surrealistic costumes and arranging on stage real riot under motto – We live only once!

 

 

 

 

The band have recorded 4 albums during the creative activity. The last of them “Super Taranta” was recorded in 2007 and had won BBC «World Music Awards» and music magazine Rolling Stone included their work in top list of 50 best albums of the year 2007.
Gogol Bordello has being working with Madonna and has also taken part in debut movie of Madonna «Filth and Wisdom».
At the moment Gogol Bordello has added to the discography their first concert DVD. The world had seen the disc under the name "Live from Axis Mundi" with bonus CD on 6th of October. The basis of DVD concert program is made from two sold out gigs in New York Irving Plaza in 2007 year.
The tour in support of "Live from Axis Mundi" is started in October this year. In the process of their touring around cities in USA and Europe Gogol Bordello plans to visit Prague.
So on 11th of December the band will perform for you in в «Incheba Aréne (Malá sportovní hala)»
